![]() Use your gifts to minister to the body of Christ.ģ. “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” ( 1 Peter 4:10). ![]() What a blessing it is to assist those under your influence to better understand their gifting so they can be effective in their work for the Lord.Ģ. Prioritize the people closest to you and then work outward. Help those around you become stronger in their faith. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” ( Galatians 6:2). What are some ways we can care for the people around us?ġ. Did you care for them like He would? Are they better for having known you, worse, or unchanged? Being a good steward of people means caring for, encouraging, protecting, and even correcting when necessary. As stewards of the many things God has entrusted to us, we should purposefully consider the people He has placed in our lives.įor a moment, reflect on the people in your life and know that there will be a day when you’ll give an account to the Lord for how you looked after them ( 2 Corinthians 5:10). We love others because He loves them and He loves us. When we show love for one another, it honors the Lord Jesus. Loving the Lord Jesus Christ and being in a right relationship with Him are of paramount importance, and next to that is loving those around you ( Matthew 22:36-40). So much so that He took on flesh and came to pay the penalty for our sins and restore us to a right relationship with Him. God says in Genesis 1:26, “Let Us make man in Our image,” and David proclaims in Psalm 139:13, “For You formed my inward parts You covered me in my mother’s womb.” God affirms in Jeremiah 1:5 that “before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” Clearly the Lord has an intimate, vested interest in people. In Job 41:11, the Lord says, “Everything under heaven is Mine.” Colossians 1:16 states, “All things were created through Him and for Him.” This definitely includes people. The master has entrusted the steward with something of value, and his desire is that these resources are managed, or stewarded, appropriately and effectively. A steward is accountable to the “master” or owner of the resources. ![]() The Greek word for stewardship in the New Testament is oikonomos, which is translated “household manager.” In the Christian context, it involves being responsible for managing the resources the Lord has entrusted to us. But how often do we include people when we think about stewardship? When they consider their resources, money comes to mind, along with vehicles, homes, investments, clothes, and so on. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Many people relate stewardship to managing money. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one to every man according to his several ability and straightway took his journey. 14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
